AI Engineering Writer (Intern) - full time
We are looking for an intern-level engineer who wants to become an excellent technical writer. This role is a mix of AI, software engineering, and writing: you will learn to use AI tools effectively, build proof-of-concept applications, integrations, demos, and technical experiments, then write clear guides and documentation explaining how they work.
You will work on real projects and receive technical and writing coaching from the team. You will often start with an unfamiliar product or a blank repository, solve a specific problem, and turn what you learned into material that helps other software engineers.
The role is fully remote, but you must be based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Who we are
Ritza is a technical GTM agency. We help developer-focused companies explain and market their products through technically accurate documentation, guides, demos, and other materials for software engineers. Our team has engineering experience and produces the materials that we would want ourselves.

What you'd work on
- Building and testing small proof-of-concept applications, integrations, demos, and other technical projects.
- Learning unfamiliar APIs, platforms, frameworks, and tools.
- Writing tutorials, documentation, blog posts, and other technical material based on work you have done yourself.
- Checking code, technical claims, and AI-generated output carefully.
- Revising your engineering and writing work in response to coaching and editorial feedback.
- Helping improve the internal tools and processes we use to produce technical content.
Working with AI
We are heavy users of AI models and coding agents, including Claude Code and Codex. We use them throughout our engineering, research, and writing workflows, and we will help you learn to use them effectively.
AI tools do not replace engineering judgment or writing ability. You must work to understand and verify what they produce, and you must be able to write clearly and eloquently without AI assistance. We care about avoiding cognitive debt: the gap between what your tools have produced and what you actually understand.
What we offer
- R20,000 per month.
- Fully remote work for someone based in Cape Town, South Africa.
- A largely asynchronous work environment. We communicate mainly on Slack, with occasional video calls. We follow our principles, which describe our focus on crafting in more detail.

- Greenfield projects where you can learn by building and explaining complete systems.

What we are looking for
- Some experience writing software, through work, study, or personal projects.
- Strong written communication and the ability to produce clear, well-structured paragraphs and technical steps.
- The ability to write clearly and eloquently without AI assistance.
- Curiosity and the ability to learn unfamiliar platforms and tools quickly.
- An interest in using AI models and coding agents while taking responsibility for understanding and checking their output.
- Attention to detail, openness to feedback, and comfort working independently in a remote environment.
