Tool set up

The main tools we use at Ritza are

Communication

  • Slack. We mainly communicate via Slack. You should read the overview of how our Slack channels work and our communication guidelines.

  • Zoom. We usually use Zoom for video calls. Any meetings should have a Google Calendar invite with a Zoom link in the invitation. We have found Zoom generally is the closest to 'it just works' in terms of people not having audio, video, or networking issues. This is because Zoom does some clever on-device transcoding, so especially for people with slow internet it can be better quality. We might sometimes use Slack huddles and/or Google Meet links for some meetings as Zoom has some limitations on the free plan.

  • Email. Generally we don't use email for much. You'll receive calendar invites via email, as well as invites to specific Google Documents.

Writing

You may use whatever tools you prefer to write drafts and commit them to our GitHub repository. If you don't have preferences, here are the defaults.

  • VS Code
  • VS Code markdown extension
  • Git (command line)
